Sports Corner Daily’s Results and Weekend Recap
What a great weekend of March Madness, with so many games lets recap a few from each day. Starting on Friday where Robert Morris hung around with Alabama but didn’t quite have the horses to pull off the upset in the end, losing 90-81 but staying within our Robert Morris +22 selection on the game. Alabama guard Mark Sears led the way with 22 points and 10 assists. After that, Maryland put the smack down on Grand Canyon 81-49 but fell short of our over 150 pick. Grand Canyon just couldn’t score at their usual rate against Maryland, falling well short of their season average of 79 points per game. Grand Canyon guard Tyon Grant-Foster scored 23 for the Lopes but was the only player on the team to score more than 6 points. Next we saw Vanderbilt choke their game against St. Mary’s away, losing 59-56, with St. Mary’s failing to cover our -4.5 pick on them. Vanderbilt led for the majority of the game, taking a 7 point lead to halftime and extending that to 12 points early in the second half. After that it was all St. Marys as they went on a run, taking the lead and never letting Vanderbilt take it back.
On Saturday, Arkansas continued its postseason run, getting to the sweet 16 by upsetting St John’s 75-66 and making our St. John’s 7.5 pick a loss. Calipari takes down Rick Pitino yet again in the tournament, getting some huge performances from freshman Karter Knox and Billy Richmond. Arkansas will now face Texas Tech on Thursday. Next, we saw a great matchup, with Gonzaga falling just short of pulling off the upset against Houston. Houston gets the win 81-76, hitting our ML pick on them to win. Gonzaga had a chance to tie the game with about 3 seconds left but guard Khalif Battle fumbled the ball, leading to a turnover and Gonzaga had to foul after that, putting the game out of reach. In the late night game, Tennessee was too much for UCLA, winning the game 67-58 and hitting our ML pick on Tennessee. Tennessee guard Chaz Lanier hit 4 threes in the game and became the single season leader in 3’s hit for the school in the process. They move on and will have a 3rd chance to beat Kentucky, with a trip to the elite 8 on the line.
On Sunday, Kentucky got the win over Illinois 84-75, hitting our under 169.5 selection on the game. Kentucky led for the entire game in this one, forcing a bunch of Illinois turnovers and capitalizing on them. Kentucky guard Koby Brea caught fire, scoring 23 points total in the game but scored 10 straight points at one point in the second half to help keep a decent lead for Kentucky. After that, we saw the first buzzer beater of the tournament, with Maryland center Derik Queen hitting a shot as time expired to beat Colorado State 72-71, but failed to cover our Maryland -7.5 selection on the game. Maryland moves on and now has a date with 1 seeded Florida on Thursday.

NBA: LA Lakers vs. Orlando Magic - 7:00pm ET
Over/Under - 👈 Click to get more info on tonights match up
Over 216
Analysis:
Both teams have shown the ability to score in bursts, with the Lakers featuring a high-paced offense that can capitalize on fast breaks and perimeter shooting. Secondly, the Magic, while trending under overall this season, have begun to find their offensive rhythm with players like Paolo Banchero contributing significantly to their scoring. Additionally, the lack of strong defensive presence for the Lakers, particularly without Anthony Davis, may result in easy scoring opportunities for the Magic. Lastly, when these…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...

Lakers -4.5
Analysis:
Not only do we like the under on this one as seen above, but I have a strong belief that the Lakers will rebound from their dismal performance against the Bulls last Saturday night. It was far from the “Showtime” version of the Lakers fans expect, especially with LeBron James returning to the lineup—there's no way their full starting squad should allow 145 points in a game. That kind of defensive lapse will surely lead to a tough film session as they address their shortcomings. Moreover, the Magic have been struggling offensively, which could work to the Lakers' advantage. After suffering back-to-back losses by margins of 29 and 31 points, it’s human nature for the Lakers to channel that frustration into a more intense performance against a team like Orlando. Coach JJ Redick will likely focus on…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
NBA: Dallas Mavericks vs. Brooklyn Nets - 7:30pm ET
Against the Spread - 👈 Click to get more info on tonights match up
Brooklyn +1.5
Analysis:
The Nets recent opponents resemble a playoff lineup, including teams like the Lakers, Cavaliers, Hawks, Celtics (twice), and Pacers (twice), and Brooklyn has successfully covered the spread against all of them. Remarkably, the Nets have adapted well in the absence of their leading scorer, Cam Thomas, by adopting a more patient offensive style under head coach Jordi Fernandez. This strategic shift has allowed various players to step up, such as Zaire Williams and Trendon Watford, who were instrumental in securing their recent covers in Indiana. Conversely, the Mavericks are…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
NHL: NJ Devils vs. Vancouver Canucks - 7:30pm ET

New Jersey to win
Analysis:
As puck drop approaches, it’s likely that the betting line will rise significantly. We are in at -150. The Vancouver Canucks boast a talented roster, but their goaltending issues have been a major concern, with their number one goalie, Thatcher Demko, appearing in only 17 games this season due to injury. While there are indications that he may be nearing a return, it's worth noting that he hasn’t seen game action in six weeks, leaving the team to rely on Kevin Lankinen. Unfortunately for Vancouver, Lankinen's performance has deteriorated, as evidenced by his recent struggle to manage a heavy workload—ultimately losing five of his last six starts. Compounding these challenges, key top-six forwards—Elias Pettersson (52 points), Filip Chytil (26 points, including his time with the New York Rangers), and Nils Hoglander (21 points)—are all expected to be sidelined. This situation could be…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
NHL: Detroit Red Wings vs. Utah Hockey Club - 9:00pm ET
Against the Spread - 👈 Click to get more info on tonights match up
Utah -1.5
Analysis:
The Red Wings are facing a critical situation in their season, having won only two of their last eleven games, which has severely impacted their playoff hopes in the Eastern Conference. Their recent road trip has proven to be particularly detrimental, as they suffered consecutive losses to the Capitals (4-1) and the Golden Knights (6-3). Goaltender Petr Mrazek, recently reacquired at the trade deadline, has failed to deliver the necessary performance, stopping just 22 of 26 shots against Washington and struggling with a concerning 5.11 GAA during his prior stint with Chicago. In stark contrast, the Utah team remains on the periphery of the Western Conference playoff race, having recently secured back-to-back victories at home against the Sabres and Lightning, during which they…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
NBA: Milwaukee Bucks vs. Phoenix Suns - 10:00pm ET
Against the Spread - 👈 Click to get more info on tonights match up
Phoenix -3
Analysis:
The Suns are clearly making a strong push for the playoffs, having won four of their last five games and currently occupying the final play-in spot in the Western Conference, thanks in part to a tiebreaker advantage over the Mavericks. Their recent success includes a notable 123-112 victory over the Cavaliers, where Kevin Durant delivered an impressive performance, scoring 42 points while the Suns shot over 52% from the field. This impressive outing continues a trend, as it was the second consecutive game in which a Suns player scored over 40 points, with Devin Booker contributing 41 points in a previous 127-121 win against the Bulls. This offensive firepower has rejuvenated Phoenix as they aim for a playoff position. In contrast, the Bucks experienced a favorable situation on Thursday against a diminished Lakers team and then witnessed the Kings struggle offensively in the…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
