Sports Corner Daily missed the mark last night with our picks besides our NFL selection. Over in the NBA last night The New York Knicks slaughtered the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was close in the first quarter but the Knicks outscored the Wolves 41-18 in the second quarter and it was all over from there. Karl Anthony Towns led all scorers in the game with 32 points. Our NBA player prop also unfortunately missed the mark, with Dennis Schroder only scoring 5 points. The Warriors lost by 51 points in the game, which certainly didn’t help as the Warriors went deep into their bench early in the loss.
In the NFL the Chargers and Broncos had a back and forth game. The Broncos had the lead at half but gave up 15 points to the Chargers in the 4th quarter to allow them to come back and win and also cover the spread and our -2.5 pick. Justin Herbert threw for 284 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win.
We have 4 more selections lined up for you tonight with the start of the College Football playoffs. We are geared up and looking forward to a great weekend of sports.
✅ NFL - Chargers -2.5 - Win
❌ NBA - Minnesota to win
❌ NCAAF - Georgia Southernvs. Sam Houston - Under 48.5
❌ NBA - Prop - Dennis Schroder - Over 14.5 pts
Today's LIVE Bets:
NCAAF: Ohio Bobcats @ Jax State Gamecocks - 12:00pm ET
Bobcats -5
Analysis:
The Bobcats are experienced in bowl games, having won five consecutively, and are unbeaten this season as a money line favorite with a 9-4 ATS record. Despite both teams losing their head coaches, the Bobcats' strong rush defense (ranked fifth in yards allowed, tenth per carry) is expected to withstand Jax State's strong run offense, which ranks second. Jax State may struggle more due to the absence of their head coach, Rich Rodriguez. The public likes The Bobcats on this one coming in at 69% in favor of them to cover.
NCAAF: Indiana Hoosiers @ Notre Dame - 8:00pm ET
Under 52
Analysis:
Both teams boast two of the top five scoring defenses in the nation, leading to an anticipated run-heavy game plan, especially given the freezing temperatures, wind, and possible snow in South Bend on Friday night. Indiana is ranked No. 1 against the run. We are against the public here as 54% are riding with the over here.
NHL: Toronto Maple Leafs @ Buffalo Sabres - 7:00pm ET
Buffalo +1.5
Analysis:
Toronto is set to play the front end of a back-to-back, with Matt Murray expected to start in goal due to No. 1 goalie Anthony Stolarz being out for weeks. This will be Murray's first NHL game since April 2023, after spending the season mostly injured in the AHL. Although the Leafs have a stronger roster, there are concerns about Murray's performance since his last good season in 2019-20. Meanwhile, Buffalo, despite losing 11 straight games, has a talented roster, and star defenseman Rasmus Dahlin is returning after a seven-game absence, which could help the Sabres improve. We are against the public here which is heavy on Toronto to cover the puck line at 77%.
NCAAF: Tulane Green Wave @ Florida Gators - 3:30pm ET
Gators -10.5
Analysis:
Tulane is facing significant challenges heading into the Bowl game, having lost their last two games and both their starting quarterback, Darian Mensah, and backup QB Kai Horton to the transfer portal. This leaves Ty Thompson, who has limited experience, as the starter. In contrast, Florida is performing well, having recently defeated strong teams like LSU and Ole Miss, and appears to have all the necessary components for success. Given Tulane's struggles and losing streak, the recommendation is to bet on Florida. The public is also big on Florida with 73% in agreement that the Gators Cover.
