Can Cleveland dominate again? Full analysis of tonight’s top bets.

Standing Record 76-26-2

Sports Corner Daily’s đź‘€ Results from Thursday 12/12/2024

Winners - 2

Losers - 1

Yesterday, Sports Corner Daily kept up the recent hot streak and went 2-1 on our picks overall. In the NFL last night, it was a defensive battle as the Rams took down the 49ers 12-6 in a much slower than anticipated game. No touchdowns were scored as it was a field goal and field position battle. Brock Purdy threw an interception late in the game in the endzone that really hurt the 49ers chances. The Rams are still in the playoff hunt and need to win the next 3 to try to sneak in the playoffs.

In the NHL the Islanders defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 in a high scoring affair. The Blackhawks took the lead in the first period but gave up two goals in the second to give the Islanders the lead going into the third. Chicago scored three goals in a row to start the third and had us all nervous, but the Islanders followed that with a three goal spurt in three minutes of game time and took the lead back for good. Hopefully you followed Sports Corner Daily’s advice and did not take the spread on this after the line moved over the -1 mark. With so much money on the Islanders to win the game the line moved to -1.5 on many books, which would’ve ended up being a loss if you had taken that. Luckily in our analysis yesterday we noted that and diverted to taking the Islanders ML.

College basketball was Sports Corner Daily’s only loss last night. Iowa st and Iowa played a close game, with Iowa actually having the lead with about 4 minutes left in the game. Unfortunately after that Iowa St got hot and finished the game on a 17-6 run and covered the -6.5 spread. #3 Iowa St improves to 8-1 on the season.

Tonight's LIVE Bets:

NBA: Washington @ Cleveland

Cleveland -17

Analysis:

That’s a huge point spread, I know. However, the Wizards seem to have a knack for losing by 30 points. They’re currently 4-10-1 against the spread (ATS) as double-digit underdogs, while the Cavaliers boast an 8-2 ATS record when favored by 9.5 points or more. The Cavs have also gone 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games, 11-3 at home, and 15-5 against teams outside their division. In contrast, the Wizards are just 4-12-1 ATS against non-divisional opponents. The Cavs have had three days off to recover from a recent dip in performance, and Max Strus is expected to return. This game is likely to mirror what teams like the Mavericks, Grizzlies, and Clippers have done to the Wizards. Plus, the Cavs recently beat the Wizards by 31 points just over a week ago. The public also likes the Cavs to cover despite the large spread with 58% of them agreeing with Sports Corner Daily.

NHL: Senators @ Hurricanes

Carolina -1.5

Analysis:

The Hurricanes are coming off a win beating the San Jose Sharks 3-2 on Tuesday night while the Senators are coming off a 5-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night. Ottawa is 4-7-1 on the road this season. The Sens have the fourth-ranked power play in the NHL. Carolina defeated Ottawa 4-0 in their previous meeting this season. The Hurricanes Martin Necas has scored 14 goals with 29 assists for the Hurricanes this season while Sebastian Aho has two goals and 11 assists over the last 10 games. Although the game will be closer than the last match up, the Hurricanes prove to be too much to handle for the Sens. The public is in favor of Carolina to cover coming in at 63% for the Hurricanes.
