Sports Corner Daily’s Results and Weekend Recap
Let’s recap our weekend, where over the last 4 days we are 11-5, up a total of 5.5 units and are looking to keep that hot streak going. On Friday in the MLB, the Boston Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 13-9, cashing in on our Boston moneyline pick. The Red Sox offense exploded with 16 hits, including a three-run homer by Trevor Story in the first inning. On the other hand, the Los Angeles Dodgers narrowly lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 3-2. Despite a two-run homer by Tommy Edman in the ninth inning, the Dodgers couldn't overcome the deficit, resulting in a loss for our Phillies +1.5 selection. In the NBA, the Indiana Pacers dominated the Utah Jazz with a 140-112 victory, successfully covering the -15.5 spread. The Pacers did whatever they wanted to on offense, leading to a comfortable 28 point win. Conversely, the Oklahoma City Thunder's 11-game winning streak was snapped by the Houston Rockets, who secured a 125-111 victory. Oklahoma City has the number 1 overall seed locked up in the West already, so the loss doesn't hurt them too much. Jalen Green led the Rockets with 34 points, while Alperen Sengun added 31, resulting in a loss for our OKC -7 pick.
On Saturday, in some MLB action , the Yankees handled the Pirates with a convincing 10-4 win, covering our -1.5 pick. The offense broke the game open with a six-run 5th inning, capped by a homer from Trent Grisham—his first as a Yankee—and a steady attack that kept Pittsburgh on their heels. On the flip side, Kansas City came up short against Baltimore, losing 8-1 and busting our Royals moneyline pick. In college hoops, the Florida Gators pulled out a 79-73 win over Auburn, covering the -2.5 spread behind a massive 34-point night from Walter Clayton Jr. In the NBA, the Timberwolves beat the 76ers 114-109 but didn’t cover the -14.5 spread. Anthony Edwards was electric with 37 points, while Rudy Gobert added a dominant 23-point, 19-rebound double-double.
On Sunday in the MLB, the Detroit Tigers secured a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox, with Spencer Torkelson's walk-off double capping a three-run rally in the ninth inning. Despite the win, the Tigers did not cover the -1.5 spread, resulting in a loss for that pick. The Cincinnati Reds fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 8-2, as Jackson Chourio powered the Brewers' offense with two home runs and five RBIs, leading to a loss on our Reds moneyline selection. Conversely, the Texas Rangers edged out the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3, with Jonah Heim delivering a walk-off single in the ninth inning. This one-run victory allowed the Rangers to cover the +1.5 spread, resulting in a win for that selection. In the NBA, the Toronto Raptors defeated the Brooklyn Nets 120-109, with rookie Jonathan Mogbo contributing 17 points and 11 rebounds. The Raptors' 11-point margin covered the -2.5 spread, securing a win for that pick.

Analysis:
After a rough start to the season with a three-game sweep by the Dodgers at Chavez Ravine, the Tigers have made a strong comeback, winning five of their last six games, including a thrilling sweep of the White Sox at Comerica Park, highlighted by a dramatic three-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning on Sunday. Casey Mize showcased his readiness for the 2025 season during his impressive debut in Seattle, pitching 5 2/3 shutout innings with only one hit allowed in a 4-1 victory, demonstrating the potential to be a pivotal player for the team. Pittsburgh +1.5
Analysis:
It's important to note that MLB teams coming off a Sunday night game and traveling to play on Monday typically struggle significantly in those matchups. This trend poses a considerable challenge for the Cardinals, who find themselves in a particularly tough situation after a doubleheader in Boston. The fact that they had to deplete most of their bullpen during the first game, which went into extra innings and resulted in a loss, further complicates their position for the second game. Additionally, they will be without catcher Ivan Herrera, who has been on fire at the plate, hitting .400 with four…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...

Florida to win
Analysis:
Todd Golden understands the importance of preparing for Houston's tenacious perimeter defenders, who will likely focus on disrupting Walter Clayton Jr.'s play by trying to take the ball out of his hands. These defenders frequently blitz the ball screens at the top of the key, which means Clayton's ability to handle this pressure and effectively engage his fellow guards, Alijah Martin and Will Richard, will be crucial. Their chemistry and teamwork could open up scoring opportunities and minimize Houston's defensive effectiveness. Moreover, the Gators need to reinforce their defensive strategies, especially since…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
